It is very important and very very use full to all of us
Article is nice. We can definitely add more substance to it by taking historical values as well and see how the change has happened. Also, how the countries contribution to world GDP has changed over a period of time. Here Time is defined as previous 1000 to 1500 years. This data is available in the book, "Contours of World Economy."
It is a real learning article for all IFAs.
VERY IMPORTANT TO US AND UNDERSTAND BY EVERY INDIAN FOR OUR COUNTRY.
The best comment is from Avinash Patnakar. PPP with ref. to GDP is clear to us when we go abroad. No doubt we find things are cheaper in India. An orange or a banana or a kilo of rice is cheaper here. But at whose cost? At the cost of the poor farmers. They work so hard and get very little profit. Thanks to our govts anti poor policies, the Indian farmers are not getting handsome profits like farmers abroad. There, the farmers earn much more than our top managers. Similarly a bottle of water or a pack of biscuits is cheaper here because the wholesalers and retailers are happy with small margins of profit. Abroad, the shops earn handsome profit margins. Hence for India, PPP should be ignored.
VERY INTERESTING ARTICLE WHICH IS VERY WELL PRESENTED ABSOLUTE CLARITY HELPED UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPTS BETTER.
