Very well written. The Biggest hurdle is to get the Client to listen to you patiently. Moreover it should not sound like a sales talk !

Really Mr. Viksit has turned the mind of Fixed Deposit investor into Debt/ Equity Mutual fund , the way and thoughts about debt and entering into equity is liked and it is a lesson for all the Advisors who interact with such type of clients.
The idea is good and useful , but what is the tax structure in this ,suppose a Clint invest 1O LAC re in income fund or in bond fund for 1 year ,how much tax burden he has to bare.
your idea is best and this is usefull for all ifa.

This is an extremely well-written article ... The points mentioned are so evident but rarely used to convert clients to debt MFs ... Thank you Mr Rohatgi for reminding us of these little known nuances and how to use them as a killer USP ...

Hypothical the person is talking today of investment in debt, why these thing did not come up prior to 2007,
thanks for the valuable advice now i think we can convence the clients for investment in bond and equity in differnt proportion
A wonderful article. Excellent example of systematic approach. WISH YOU ALL THE BEST, IN YOUR LIFE, VIKSIT JI.
Congrat Mr. Rohtagi for show case induction of one HNI to ultimate total transfer to Mutual Fund.Step by step approach to such initiation certainly can make mutual funds win and influence Investors of least risk averse come forward pour money. MF as category has all its advantage of multiple choice of investments. One should try and if begun with zero risk asset class with no equity r can make great success. Winning edge in debt funds is differential tax treatment on consideration of capital gain on income as other source even on count of tax saving on NRI without Indexation can be better gainer.Wish rest of IFAs analyse risk behaviours of new HNI before underatking investment.
Increase in DDT for the debt funds will eat up substantial gains in the debt funds ( except the liquid category which already suffers the same DDT). Customers going in for the dividend option ( to have liquidity) and not in the 30% tax bracket will be hit maximum by this. Otherwise the option compared to the bank Fd was excellent..
