Tarakki - which means progress - is an outcome. Tarakki is never a flash in the pan - genuine tarakki comes when you create an environment where all aspects of your business are firing away together, thus enabling you to build a sustainable and scalable business model.

ICICI Prudential - which has demonstrated exactly these facets in its own business over the last few years, partnered with Wealth Forum to institute the annual Tarakki awards, where we recognize distributors who have grown their businesses over the years on a sustainable basis.

How do you measure all round growth and sustained growth? The best way, we thought, was to consider a 3 year horizon rather than a 1 year horizon, and over these 3 years, look at distributors who have grown their business across all key parameters that go into building a sustainable business:

- AuM growth (all categories ex liquid) over 3 years (Apr 13 - Mar 16)
- Customer growth (increase in live folios over these 3 years)
- SIP count growth (increase in live SIPs over these 3 years)
- SIP value growth (increase in SIP book over these 3 years)

A weighted average of all these parameters is then computed to arrive at the Tarakki champions across different regions. The regions are similar to those used in the annual Wealth Forum Advisor Awards over the last 6 years.

The awards event commenced with words of wisdom from a true Tarakki champion - Nimesh Shah, CEO, ICICI Prudential AMC, who shared his perspectives on what it takes to create an enabling environment for sustainable and scalable Tarakki.
