Asset growth champions are recognised on the basis of a weighted average growth in AuM across all asset classes. Lower weightages are accorded to liquid and ultra short term funds, where large corporate transactions tend to skew the overall picture.

The Distributor of the Year is the all rounder of the year award for each region and distribution segment. For this award, the total scores on all the previous five categories are summed up : (1) Net Sales - Fixed Income, (2) Net Sales - Equity & Hybrids, (3) Retail Growth, (4) SIP Growth and (5) Assets Growth. A poor performance in even one of the parameters (for example a large negative net sales in equity and hybrids) can significantly bring down the overall score due to the negative index scores of that parameter. The true all rounder is therefore one who has done commendably well on all 5 parameters - in a tough year, which has seen net negatives on many parameters at an industry level.

This year's IFA Champion of Champions - the IFA All India Distributor of the Year is Chadha Investments, Delhi. A firm that was started several years ago by Col Y P Chadha and his wife Lakshmi Chadha has been taken to the next level by their son, Major Ashish Chadha. Its not often that the second generation builds so successfully on the momentum set by the first generation. The Chadha family is clearly a striking exception. There is an old adage : when the going gets tough, the tough get going. In what has been undeniably a tough year for mutual fund sales - when the going got really tough, when net sales, net folio growth and net SIPs at an industry level were negative - its this fauji family that proved its meetle by forging ahead of the pack.
